My newest skincare discovery is already a cult product – and a bestseller in Asia. Despite the name, Guerlain’s Advanced Youth Watery Oil is popular with women of all ages, so much so that, according to Guerlain, a bottle of its “magic oil” sells every 26 seconds. The brand attributes the formula’s success to its unique ultra-light and water-like texture, which makes it a good option for anyone who doesn’t enjoy the feeling of an oil on their face.
One reason I’ve personally come to love this product is the way I can use it to touch up my make-up. I’ve found it to be great for revitalising my skin just when I need it at the end of the day, which is why I’ve started calling it my “7pm skincare hit” – I reach for it at that time each day, when my complexion is in need of a boost. “It’s perfect after a day’s work: two drops will recharge the skin and also serves to touch up my make-up. It’ll also give skin an extra glow,” agrees María Borrás from Guerlain.
The formula is based on five bee-derived ingredients, perfect for nourishing the skin and repairing it from external aggressors, and it can be used day and night as a serum layer. It incorporates black bee honey from Brittany as well as three further varieties of honey from Corsica, Ikaria and Åland, plus royal jelly. The best thing about it is that it’s multi-purpose: apply it to your cheeks as a final step for a dewy make-up look; pat it over your make-up during the day for a quick refresh; use it to nourish and groom your brows; use it to remove eye make-up, or apply it to your cuticles for a moisturising hit.
